Transmission is an artist-run space which was started in Glasgow in 1983 and has since become a model for collective action, bringing a marginal art community to the attention of a world-wide audience.

Transmission is at the centre of a diverse and increasingly high profile Glaswegian art scene, providing a place where younger and less established artists can meet, talk and exhibit alongside internationally renowned artists such as Jim Lambie, Cathy Wilkes, Lawrence Weiner, Ellen Cantor and Atelier Van Lieshout. This book opens up the archives and documents the shows, the talks, the scene and the reaction.
